During ASIPI’s Cocktail Reception on May 4 in Dallas, we will open registrations for our XVII Work Sessions which will take place from December 1 to 4 in the Hard Rock & Casino Hotel of Punta Cana. In an event that marks the history of the Association, began the Intellectual Property Seminar in Havana. This is the first time that academic sessions are conducted in the Cuban capital with the expectation of broadening the knowledge on Intellectual Property matters and promoting the exchange of information among Latin American countries. The natural beauty of the island and the characteristics of its people, is the ideal setting for this meeting. These sessions started with the report from the members of the Executive Committee on developments in each country.

La Oficina de Marcas Registradas y Patentes de Estados Unidos ha rechazado la patente de Apple pinch to zoom (“tocar para acercar”) en un fallo preliminar que Samsung Electronics sostiene respalda su solicitud para un nuevo juicio en la guerra de patentes contra su rival.

A new WIPO report shows that while the global economy continued to underperform, intellectual property (IP) filings worldwide kept growing strongly in 2011. It also finds that China’s patent office became the largest in the world, as measured by the number of patent applications received. Before 2011, China already accounted for most filings of utility models (UMs), trademarks and industrial designs.1
