The XXI century greeted us with a silent revolution that has changed the consumption and access to information. Technology has uplifted new areas of knowledge and developed new ways of thinking. 25 years ago the now known "digital culture" was nothing more than an idea, while today is an imposing reality.

Thanks to this new era, the culture belongs to us more than ever: music, books, art, film and television, are available at the distance of a 'click'. Works are known and reported from anywhere in the world.

From April 17 to 19, it took place in Tequila, Mexico, the First Forum on “Promoting Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement Policy in Latin America: The Role of the IPO”, organized by the Mexican Institute of Intellectual Property (IMPI) and the Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator (IPEC) of the White House of the United States, with the support of the International Trademark Association (INTA), the Business Action to Stop Counterfeiting and Piracy (BASCAP) and the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI).

Tuesday morning began with the panel on "How to prove Counterfeit? Research Techniques and Generating Evidence on Counterfeit", José Henrique Werner (ANGARDI-Brazil) and Travis D. Johnson (IACC- USA) referred to research techniques for counterfeited products and how to obtain evidence for use in court cases. The moderation was led by Alberto Guerra (Guerra IP- Brazil).
